If you read this blog very often, you know that we enjoy adventures…and quite often our adventures involve travel. When we get questions like, “Where are you going on your next trip?” The answer is that we are ALWAYS thinking about the next trip. Sometimes we can’t answer that question because it takes hours of study and planning to work out trip plans to our satisfaction. Also, we hesitate to answer that question with any certainty until we have informed family members.
Recently, we have had a trip come up suddenly, and we are scheduled to leave in two days. We have volunteered to join the “Battleground Patriots” on the victory bus to help elect the Romney-Ryan ticket on November 6. We are being “deployed” (their expression, not ours!) on Wednesday (October 24), and the destination for our bus is Dayton, Ohio. We will work 10-12 hours a day for three days with the campaign workers in that location. They will provide training for us, and once we arrive in Ohio, our assignment is to go door-to-door, attend campaign events, distribute campaign literature, and help with various office duties. The bus from Huntsville is full, but we don’t personally know anyone who will be on the bus with us except our congressman, Mo Brooks, and Nick Banaszak from WHNT (and we know these only by name and reputation).
This will definitely be another “adventure”…and one like none of the others. We hope to be able to post updates to this blog while we are gone, but with 10-12 hour workdays you might cut us a little slack if we don’t get one posted every day. We want to be busy and complete our assigned tasks while we are gone.
Any of you who might be Obama supporters can sit out this “journey”. It will be a brief journey, and might not be as exciting to you as it is to us. For the rest of you: Ohio is a swing state, and Romney needs those electoral votes in his camp. We are going to try to help make it happen. We have many reasons for wanting to see Mitt Romney in the White House. Ten of our “reasons” are pictured below. We want a more secure and prosperous future for these precious grandchildren.
