Today we decided to spend our day riding bicycles along the Tauber River valley. We rented wonderful bikes that had a locking system where we could park them, lock them and take the key, and they would be safe while we walked around a little exploring the area.
However, bicycles are both a means of transportation and a means of exercise anywhere you ride them. Let me assure you that gravity works the same in Germany as it does anywhere, and the hills are as difficult to climb on a bike here as on a bike anywhere. We did a lot of bike-riding...and a lot of bike-walking today.
Most of our 5-hour biking experience was on nice, paved bike paths, and a little of it on sleepy county roads, nothing stressful.
The weather was lovely, so we rode out of Rothenburg into the countryside, passed the Toppler castle (summer home) we walked to yesterday, and on to the small village of Detwang where there is a 1000-year old church building. (Yes, that is three zeros!)
We ate our picnic lunch in a little park in Detwang and then rode on to another tiny village, called Bettwar. (The photo shows our view from our lunch-bench today in Detwang.)
On our ride we passed several interesting things...an unusual bridge just out of Rothenburg, a llama farm (in Germany??), and beautiful green pastures with contented cows wearing those lovely-sounding bells around their necks.
I could not resist snapping a photo of a German gentleman resting at an old bridge over the Tauber River. He had stopped his work to watch the ducks for a while. 
We passed farmlands, an old mill, a waterwheel, and a typical German house that had absolutely beautiful flowers in the yard. We had to stop there for photos. 
We finally returned to Rothenburg, returned our bikes, and walked back to the hotel. We plan to eat dinner at the hotel tonight and probably make tonight another Tylenol PM night. It worked last night. We slept all night and were not sore today.
We hope your day was filled experiences that give you pleasure, and lovely flowers to enjoy. What wonderful things there are in this world to enjoy! God is good to us all.
